The Angler Drake

The trenches and labyrinth of the Water Nation are home to wildlife that cannot be seen in any other region. The cold waters and intense depths carry resilient species and even beasts that evolved to become more than comfortable in the adverse environment.

The labyrinth itself has a recurring beast in its cold and dark waters. The angler drake is an overseer of the nation's outskirts. The beast rivals most mid-sized dragons on land in size and exceeds many in length with its serpent-like form. The creature's luminescent markings serve as the only indicator in the pitch-dark waters of its presence before it is too late. If a light is flashed upon its hide, or if the serpent wills itself with a loud shriek, it may illuminate to reveal itself to the trespasser.

The drake's long-standing presence in the depths has served as a tall tale for children both in the Water Nation village, and those on the coasts.

That angler drake is none other than Rourke.

As an outsider to the Water Nation, the dark elf washed into one of the Nation's coves many years back during the later decades of Naga's reign as Queen. The man was taken in and provisioned in return for loyalty to this new home. Naga undoubtedly had a soft spot for the elf. Despite all first impressions he may give, Rourke won her patience with how quickly he settled into the temple.

While there isn't much to be shared about his past, he treats most newcomers with aggressive territoriality, especially following Naga's passing and Yuna's beginning as Queen.

“Rourke is the warden to our outer territory,[...]
Nothing passes through our outskirts without notice,
and for hundreds of years, with his diligence, they never have.
He is trusted and appointed by our late Queen herself in her time of rule.”
-Yuna

- Rourke stands at approximately 6'10.

- He won't disclose his actual age, but gives hints of a past life that was 'ages ago'

- He has at least been around the Water Nation to watch Yuna's early upbringing.

- Rourke is a magic practitioner. Some of his tattooed markings are remnants from that.

- Rourke's form as the angler drake was a 'gift' to perform his duties.

-Rourke has studied a variety of languages. He primarily speaks Elvish, English, and some broken Greek from Amatheia. He has studied Gaelic, Latin, and Germanic languages for translation's sake.
